GREENPOWER USA F24 (Grades 6 - 12)
For middle and high school students completing the F24 build, the foundational skills learned through the Goblin program are built upon with the introduction of functional system changes such as tire composition and pressure, gear ratio changes, drive systems, weight reduction, and motor control.
In the process of implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of these changes, students learn that they must work together for their team to be successful. This concept is reinforced as the students begin to shift from teacher direction to student direction with teacher support and oversight.
Event Categories
Age Groups:
- F24 Intermediate is for Middle School aged students (Grades 6 - 8)
- F24 Advanced is for High School aged students (Grades 9 - 12)
Division Groups:
- Stock Division - A car will compete in the F24 Stock division when it has been built using the materials given by GreenpowerUSA when the kit was delivered to your location.
- Modified Division - A car will compete in the F24 Modified division if it has made any modifications to the GreenpowerUSA kit. This includes, but is not limited to, tire improvements, gear/sprocket changes, controllers, etc. If a team has “stitch-drilled” holes in the chassis to reduce weight, Greenpower race officials reserve the right to deem the car unsafe from taking part in an event.
- Custom Division - A car will compete in the F24 Custom division if it has made modifications to the geometry of the GreenpowerUSA kit or has done a scratch-build car. If you are unsure that your team is in this division, reach out to GreenpowerUSA for further information.
Event Scoring
A Presentation Component and 90-minute Race Session are required at all sanctioned Greenpower USA F24 events. During the 90-minute Race Session, teams are not permitted to change batteries.
The Presentation Component is completed by distributing the rubric for each event to all registered teams via the Event Page. Historically, presentations have been delivered through PowerPoint, live interviews, video submissions, and more. These are scored by judges selected by the Event Organizer.
Each team must compete in at least one 90-minute session to be eligible for overall points. The goal for each team is to complete more laps than other teams competing in their classification (age and division).
The Overall Score is determined by adding the two components together. A perfect score is 100 at a sanctioned event.
